You know when you think a lot about something, you feel like it’s everywhere around you?

Like when you start thinking about having a baby, suddenly everyone you meet is pregnant? That’s what it’s been like for me while I’ve been starting this nutrition-coaching business.

Nutrition is EVERYWHERE. It’s all I can think about.

Part of that is Instagram, I know, algorithms throw more and more posts into my feed that match what I am looking at and searching. It’s also what I’m interested in so naturally I’m going to gravitate towards reading everything I can.

But what I’ve been thinking about, through all of this nutrition-in-my-face, is “what do I really really believe” about all this?

Is there one thing or one goal that is the end-all-be-all for myself, or my friends, or clients, or clients-to-be…?

And I think my honest answer is just that I want other people to feel good.

For a long time, I don’t think I knew what it felt like to feel good. I sort of thought it was normal to be wide awake in the middle of the night, or starving by 10AM, or snoozy by 2PM.

I didn’t have a plan, and I certainly didn’t have a magic answer.

Since that time I have experimented with a lot of different nutrition styles and what I have come up with is this.

Balance.

If we can all manage to find some balance (with everything in life really) but with how we eat, we can find what works and what makes us feel good.

Too many restrictions, too much “diet” and not enough “lifestyle change” will get us nowhere.

I have figured out how to eat to feel good – strong, well-rested, at peace – and that is honestly the most I can ask for in this job, is to be able to help other people figure that out as well.
